Basic Training on Mediation, Kathmandu
Basic Training on Mediation was organized in Kathmandu from 24 to 31 March 2019 in coordination with Medical Council Nepal wherein 28 individuals (F-12 and M-16) of different backgrounds participated. Honorable judge Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Mr. Keshari Raj Pandit, Dr. Kumar Sharma Acharya, Mr. Satish Sharma, Mr. Mukti Rijal, Ms. Shova Basnet, Mr. Mahendra Prasain, Mr. Matrika Prasad Niroula facilitated the training session. The 48 hours training covered topics on traditional dispute resolution methods and its advantages, various methods of dispute resolution, importance and need of Mediation and international practices of mediation. Importance of communication skills during mediation was also discussed in the training. The training comprised of topics on role, responsibility and quality of a mediator, basic rules of negotiation, national laws relating to mediation, different step (1-7) in Mediation. Each theoretical topic was followed by role play with the help of which the participants get the opportunity to practice the knowledge. The training also comprised of topics on basic elements of mediation, psychological aspects in mediation, process after mediation and facilitation skills each followed by role play. The participants also practiced skills to use Appreciative Inquiry and art of questioning.
