Orientation Program on the occasion of International Women's Day in Kavrepalanchowk

An orientation program on the occasion of 105th International Women's day was organized in Jyamdi VDC of Kavrepalanchowk district on March 9, 2015. The orientation was jointly organized by Forum for Protection of People's Rights (PPR Nepal), Legal Aid and Consultancy Center (LACC), Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO Nepal) and Nepal Tamang Women Ghedung (NTWG) in coordination with District Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (DCCHT) and Village Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (VCCHT). Chief district officer of Kavre district, officials from Women and Children's Office, DDC and VDC, journalists, VDC secretary, representatives from political parties participated in the orientation.

The orientation was organized to aware and orient grassroots people, survivors of trafficking and school children on organ (kidney) trafficking, human trafficking, role and responsibilities of district stakeholders to control and minimize trafficking and impart knowledge and awareness on legal aspects and government plans and policies for combating trafficking. Addressing legal aspect such as filing/registering cases, provisions/mechanisms of government to address safe migration, changing forms of human trafficking and preventive measures were also discussed in the orientation. Definition of kidney trafficking and importance of kidney in human body was also highlighted in the program.


In the program PPR Nepal distributed stationary/education materials among the children of survivors of trafficking. The education materials were handed over to the survivors and their children by the chief district officer of Kavre.

Such orientation was also organized in Baaluwa, Khanalthok, Mathurapati-Fulbaru and Methinkot VDC.
