Refresher Training on Mediation, Khajura Rural Municipality, Banke

Refresher Training on Mediation was organized in Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke district from 17 to 19 January 2018. The training was organized by Khajura Rural Municipality with the technical assistance of PPR Nepal and participated by 35 individuals (F-12 and M-23) of different backgrounds. Mr. Radhe Shyam Tharu and Mr. Bhanubhakta Rijal were the facilitators of the training.

In the 3 days training, the participants shared their experiences while mediating disputes and challenges they faced and reviewed the process and experience they adopted post the basic training. The training topics comprised of skills to identify interest, position, claim and option generation. Cultural and psychological aspects in mediation were also discussed in the training sessions. Topics on responsibility and jurisdiction of judicial committee and disputes that can be dealt by the committee, questioning skills were also discussed. Barriers and obstacles during mediation and its solution were other topics covered in the training. Group role play was performed based on option generation, value creation and additional skills required in mediation. The participants also practiced skills to use Appreciative Inquiry.
